The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This attractive bergere is in good overall condition.
There is some wear and loss to the gilding which has probably been refreshed at some time.
The front left leg has a repaired break, this is barely visible and is now firm.
The 20th century silk is of a very high standard and is in good overall condition with only little evidence of marking or wear from use but is a little dusty. There is some minor loss to the brade edging. It is interesting to note that the rear edges of the cushion and front edge of the seat are covered in antique silk of the same pattern suggesting that the chair was probably previously and possibly originally covered in this pattern of silk which has then been copied when the chair was recovered.
Slight traces of apparently inactive, historic woodworm.
Overall minor knocks, chips, scratches and wear consistent with age and use.
In generally good decorative and structural condition and ready to use.
