This large and impressive mirror is in generally good overall condition.
The decoration probably scraped back to the present green ground, there are traces of blue also visible, it is not clear if these were from highlights or are traces of a later scheme, since removed, but the blue colour does not appear to extend accross the whole, suggesting it is not a complete prevous scheme. The parcel-gilding probably replaced. All probably with some refreshment. The present surfaces worn and with craquelure, flaking and loss throughout and with a later lacquer or varnish.
The plates foxed and marked with losses to silvering, probably original.
The delicate pietced carving vulnerable by its nature with numerous cracks, splits, repairs and probably minor localised replacements throughout, most notably the cresting has been broken and reattached with reinforcement from behind, however, by the nature of its design, it is a bit weak and is not structurally firm - it needs to be handled with extreme care in transit.
The backboards substantial and likely original but with later brown wash.
Traces of apparently inactive, historic woodworm.
Overall minor knocks, chips, scratches and wear consistent with age and use.
In generally good decorative and structural condition and ready to hang.
