The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This canape is in good overall condition.
It may have had subsequent decoration which has been scraped back and the present finish has probably been refreshed. The painted finish has worn through to the highpoints, showing the timber below.
The present brown velvet covering is in good overall condition with minimal wear from use.
The seat has been later sprung and there are two iron struts bracing the frame to the iunderside, these are probably 19th century.
Overall minor knocks, chips, scratches and wear consistent with age and use.
In generally good decorative and structural condition and ready to use.
