Lot Essay

For early 17th-century pharmacy wares with the same arms, but with lighter scrolling foliage to the reverses typical of a later period, see Angela Di Blasi Ferla and Vittoriano Valenti, LAntica Maiolica Siciliana, private collezioni, Palermo, 2005. The large jar is illustrated alongside an albarello and a bottle-vase, all of which bear the same arms and were presumably from the same pharmacy.
