The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In good overall condition, both chairs ahve been cleaned and repolished/varnished. They were probably originally painted.
The present finish is clean, bright and serviceable and the second-half 20th century gold brocade coverings are in good condition with little marking or wear from use. Slightly dusty.
Both with traces of woodworm.
Both chairs with retipping to varying degrees; the front left leg broken and repaired to the larger chair, there is some repair visible internally to the joint to the same leg and the back seat-rail has been internally re-capped.
There are also old pin holes surrounding the back-panel to the larger chair, suggesting that at some time, it was later, covered over.
Both with minor old splits, cracks and repairs to the frames. The smaller chair with illegible stamp.
The smaller chair reblocked to underside, the feet also retipped.
Overall minor knocks, chips, scratches and wear consistent with age and use.
In generally good decorative and structural condition and ready to use.
