First edition of Carter's own account of his discovery of King Tutankhamen's tomb, considered by many to be one of the greatest archaeological finds of all time. This detailed account is illustrated with photographs by Harry Burton, a former curator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

3 vols, octavo (235 x 160mm). Half-titles, photographic plates by Harry Burton (light scattered spotting). Original tan cloth with central black morocco overlay upper covers of gilt scarab, decorative endpapers (extremities lightly rubbed, corners a fraction bumped). Provenance: John S. Carter (ink ownership inscription on half-title of vol. 1 dated 1930) signature to front free endpaper of vol.1 – Arthur O. Jeffreys (pencil ownership inscription on half-title of vol. 2).
