Details
Typed letter signed ("Leonard") to Marianne Ihlen ("Dear Marianne") [Hydra, c.March 1963].

One page, 212 x 287mm.

"I've opened all the windows—really it's beautiful! I've been here half an hour and somehow I don't want to really set things in order until you come. I think we have a wonderful house."

Newly arrived in Hydra, Cohen awaits Marianne. His love of their home on the idyllic Greek island is a recurring theme, one that underscores the importance of their domestic life for his work and well-being, and recalls his later lyric, "Well, you know that I love to live with you." He gives a run-down of finances, travel plans, and home repairs before closing, "Hurry, little one."
