Alone in Greece, and without a word from Marianne. “Are you not going to write me? Have I hurt you? I want so much to hear what is happening to you. It is over two months since I have had a word. My work is going slowly but well. I hope to be finished by Christmas. Are you at all interested?” The work he refers to is the rewrite of The Favorite Game, which he would finish that December as he predicts.
