The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

- Overall condition good. Signs of wear commensurate with age. Some small traces of tarnish. Push button mechanism in good working order.
- Additional marks: French assay marks for 18 carat gold, maker's mark 'S painter palette A M' for Strauss, Allard et Meyer.
- Amber: with typical appearance, some scratches and small nicks to the polished surface throughout, a few more noticeable chips to the sides, in particular to one of the screws, a small hairline fissure to the reverse at the top, some chips to the top edge.
- Lapis lazuli: in good condition overall, with typical appearance, including visible pyrite.
- Black enamel: some small nicks, a few more noticeable chips to the reverse, the bottom border with some areas of loss.
