The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The canvas is relined and the side edges are covered with tape. The work is treated with a protective layer of varnish. Faint frame abrasions, mild stretcher bar impressions and tiny stable losses are to the edges. A small loss is to the upper right corner, and a tiny loss is to the left arm of the child. Stable hairline craquelure and pinpoint losses are scattered. Some mild indentations and soft scuffs are intermittent. Visible under ultraviolet light, small passages of inpainting are scattered.
