Lot Essay

John Loring (B.1939) is an American designer, author, and art historian best known as the longtime Design Director of Tiffany & Co. Loring was both part of Mapplethorpe's social circle and an early supporter of his career, going on to donate a piece of his collection to the Museum of Modern Art.
