The Knife/Ship is a combination of a Swiss Army Knife and the ceremonial ship of ancient Venice, Italy, the Bucintoro. A 40-foot-long Knife/Ship was made for a performance done in Venice in 1985 together with Coosje van Bruggen, the writer and architect Frank O. Gehry, with the assistance of architecture students from the Polytechnic Institute of Milan. After the performance, the Knife/Ship was shown in several museums, among them the Guggenheim Museum in New York. This silkscreened print was made for the Guggenheim exhibition, with the elevation of the ship superimposed on Frank Lloyd Wright.
