CHURCHILL, Winston (1874-1965). Autograph letter signed ("Winston S Churchill") as First Lord of the Admiralty, to Adm. Godfrey Mundy, London, 7 November 1913.

One page, 190 x 120mm, on Admiralty Whitehall letterhead, (mounting remnants on verso).

Churchill offers Mundy (1860-1928) "the appointment of Admiral Superintendent of the Dock Yard, Devonport, in succession to Vice Admiral Stokes."

Typed letter signed ("Winston S Churchill"), to "My dear Shakespear," London, 20 September 1910.

One page, 240 x 189mm, on The Home Secretary letterhead, (light foxing, original mailing folds). With salutation and closing in Churchill's hand.

Churchill thanks Shakespear for a letter sent from Gibraltar and inquiries about his position on board the Cornwallis. He congratulates Shakespear on his advancement in the Service, noting that it will be deserved by his abilities, "if not by your virtues".
