11 cm). 154 x 131 x 9 cm).

The canvas has been subject to quite a strict reline, it is held under tension and remains stable. In natural light a small loss of approx. 1.5 x 0.5 cm can be seen below Venus' breast. There is also a horizontal hairline scratch measuring approx. 11 cm to the left of her head. There is a drip in the varnish of 21 cm that can be seen in the lower part of the painting. There are a number of scattered areas of restoration, some done in mastic, that have discoloured with age, in the drapery in the lower right-hand corner, Venus's outstretched forearm, Cupid's left foot, brown backgrounds, hangings, etc., although these are partially concealed by the dry varnish covering the painting. The opacity of the varnish precludes an in depth examination under UV light, however spot retouching is visible in the red drapery in the lower left-hand corner. In a gilt frame with a palmette and lyre motif (approx. 154 x 131 x 9 cm).
