    SENDAK, Maurice (1928-2012). Cover art for "The Big Book of Peace," original watercolor drawing signed ("M. Sendak"); and original pencil sketch on tracing paper, signed ("Maurice Sendak"), lower right, 1989.

    Approximately 250 x 205mm each (image size), matted and framed together to 710 x 495mm.

    Heart-warming drawing of one of Sendak's most beloved characters. The Wild Thing "Moishe" sits in the trees with a grin on his face and a family of nesting birds in his hair (right between his horns). The Big Book of Peace was a collaboration of dozens of children's authors and illustrators featuring 17 short stories on the absurdity of conflict.
