Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This report was prepared by Terrence Mahon:
This painting is in excellent condition. The masonite support is securely glued to a six-member strainer and counter-painted on the reverse between the bars of the strainer. It is sound and in plane. The paint layer is structurally sound and stable, with very little cracking evident and no insecurity. Extremely fine traction craquelure may be noted in some colors under magnification, but this is inherent. Ultraviolet light reveals two very minor retouches on the left edge--in the green (4 ¾-5 1/8" from bottom) and blue (5 ½ in. from top). The surface, which has a thin, clear varnish, is clean and fresh.
