The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

We have sought to record changes in the condition of these pieces acquired after their initial manufacture.

Cylindrical box and cover:
Good overall condition with a few areas of wear to the lacquer and surface scratches as can be expected.

'Landscape' box and cover:
Some very minor nicks and indentations to the rims.
A few areas of losses of lacquer inside the cover's rim.
Surface scratches.

Goose-form box and cover:
A small chip to a wing.
Some losses of mother-of-pearl inlays on the wings.
A few very minor nicks/indentations to the rims.

Smaller mandarin duck:
A very small chip to the end of the tail.
Some losses of lacquer along the rim on the cover.
A few minute nicks/indentations to the rims.
Some wear to the gilt lacquer on the cover.

Larger mandarin duck:
Very few minute nicks to the rims.

All boxes with general age-related surface wear and scratches as can be expected.
