Lot Essay

Henrik Wigström (1862-1923) was one of Fabergé's most celebrated workmasters. In 1884, at the age of 22 he became an assistant to Michael Perchin who was head of Fabergé's goldsmiths' department at the time. When Perchin died in 1903, his workshop passed to Wigström who continued the firm's excellent work.

On 21 October 1884 Henrik Wigström married Ida Johanna Turunen (1866-1911). The Wigström family album was most likely a 25th wedding anniversary gift to Henrik Wigström and his wife. It contains family photos of the couple and their four children, as well as a dinner menu to celebrate the occasion, dated 21 October 1909.
