This painting is a modern copy after Diego Velazquez's Portrait of a young Spanish nobleman, dated circa 1631, now in the Alte Pinakothek, Munich (inv. no. 518). According to the museum's file, this copy was painted by 'H.T.W. Hieronymus'.
