The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Gouache and traces of pencil on card backed with Japan paper. The reverse of the sheet is taped with conservation paper to the mat window opening. One artist’s tack hole at the upper left corner and the lower corners. The lower edge is slightly uneven. A horizontal stain along the upper edge. A very few hairline craquelures in the thickest gouache impasto, a few with potential small gouache losses (the biggest ones in the blue and green pigments of the tree at left). A potential small repaired tear or crease in the grey pigment below the church’s stairs. Medium is strong and fresh throughout. Subject to the foregoing it is our view that the work is in good condition.

Gouache et trace de graphite sur papier fort doublé par du papier Japon. Le revers de la feuille est maintenu à l’ouverture du passe-partout avec du papier de conservation. Un trou de punaise fait par l’artiste au coin supérieur gauche et aux coins inférieurs. Le bord inférieur est légèrement irrégulier. Une tâche horizontale le long du bord supérieur. De très rares et discrètes craquelures dans les empâtements de gouache les plus épais, de rares avec de potentiels petits manques de gouaches (les plus importants dans les pigments bleu et vert de l’arbre à gauche). Une potentielle petite déchirure ou froissure restaurée dans le pigment gris sous les marches de l’église. Le médium est vif et frais sur l’ensemble de la composition. Sous réserve de ce qui précède et selon notre opinion, cette œuvre apparait en bonne condition générale.
