Includes 8"x10" portrait photograph showing Lou Gehrig in his later years and it bears a "Geo. Burke" stamp on the back. Signed on his behalf by wife Eleanor, "To Ed Busch - with warm regards - Cordially, Lou Gehrig." Light toning with a few more pronounced spots of discoloration and there is mild general wear; 5 December 1938 dated letter typed on "Lou Gehrig" stationary which has been signed "Eleanor Gehrig." It was written to noted reporter Walter Winchell in response to a piece he had recently published. The Gehrig's took exception to their portrayal as nouveau riche and the text reads in part, "Lou still remains the essence of simplicity and ruggedness as befits his role of baseball player." Winchell's handwritten response and first name signature appear along the right hand side. Mailing folds and some light toning/handling wear and the autograph is graded PSA/DNA 10 Gem Mint: VG-EX, Letter signature Gem Mint
