The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Charcoal with pen and ink on laid paper. With the watermark 'Ingres d'Arches' visible at the reverse upper left. Hinged to the mount at the reverse upper sheet corners. The upper and right edges deckled. The artist's pinholes intermittently at the extreme edges. Light and mount staining and some spots of discolouration and fox marks. A couple of vertical unobtrusive flattened folds, some flattened creases and some handling marks. A few short skillfully-repaired tears at the left and upper sheet edges (the longest 3.5cm.). The charcoal is strong, with some rubbing in places towards the edges.
