The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The canvas is unlined and is on what is probably the original stretcher which is providing good support. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a previous partial clean with uneven varnish. There is a spot of cosmetic retouching on the chin and several small cosmetic re-touchings on the torso. The picture appears in good condition however, and can be hung without further attention in a swept Louis XV frame.
