The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Charcoal, gouache, pencil and pen and ink on three sheets of buff joined paper laid down on wove paper. The backing paper hinged to the mount at the reverse upper sheet corners. The edges irregularly cut. The artist's pinholes intermittently at the edges. Two or three further ones in the lower quarter of the composition. Light and mount staining. Surface dirt in places. Some discolouration along the joins and some further spots elsewhere. Remnants of old adhesive, towards the lower right corner, consistent with the artist's process of joining the sheets. The Julius Freund collection stamp at the lower right corner. The Kunsthandlung August Klipstein number '25984' inscribed in pencil and a further pencil inscription 'F 8744' along the lower centre right edge. The backing sheet with undulation and some creases, consistent with the laying down process.
