Lot Essay

Consigned by an important private collector, the timepiece is furthermore sold with its full set of accessories.

Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak is a phenomenon, one of the most recognizable and successful wristwatch models of all time and the first luxury steel sports watch. The concept of the luxury sports watch was completely alien when the Royal Oak was introduced in 1972. In 1990, Audemars Piguet introduced the celebrated Dual-Time caliber, the first wristwatch powered by a single movement capable of displaying two time zones simultaneously. The watch is wound by the use of an oscillating weight with a 21 carat gold segment and is transmitted to the mainspring via a wheel train. There are 263 parts in total.
