The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

La toile a fait l'objet d'un rentoilage ancien. Elle est maintenue sous une tension correcte sur un châssis à clés et reste stable.
À la lumière naturelle, le tableau présente très bien, tous les détails de la composition et la profondeur des couleurs étant très bien préservés. Le bord inférieur de la toile présente un léger soulèvement, particulièrement visible dans le coin inférieur gauche, où la matière a commencé à se replier. Ce repli s'accompagne d'un léger manque et d'un léger bombement de la matière. Une autre perte de peinture mineure est visible plus loin sur cette zone de bombement, sous le bas-relief du cheval. Cette zone gagnerait à être stabilisée. Le vernis présente quelques salissures, particulièrement visibles dans le ciel. La craquelure dans le ciel a été légèrement comblée, restauration qui a entre-temps légèrement viré.
L'examen sous lumière UV montre qu'il y a eu une restauration antérieure le long du soulèvement susmentionné. L'examen confirme le comblement ponctuel dans le ciel. Sinon, le tableau est en bon état.

The canvas has an historic reline. This is held under correct tension on a keyed stretcher and remains stable.
In natural light the painting presents very well, with all the details of the composition and the depth of colour very well preserved. There is some cupping to the lower edge of the canvas, most evident in the lower left corner, where it has begun to fold. There is some minor paint loss associated with this fold and some further tenting. There is some further minor paint loss further along this line, beneath the bass-relief of the horse. This area would benefit from stabilisation. The varnish carries some dirt, this is most visible in the sky. There is some minor infill to the craquelure in the sky, which has slightly discoloured.
Examination under UV light shows there there has been some previous restoration along the aforementioned cupping fold. It confirms the scattered infill in the sky. Otherwise, the painting is in good condition.
