Quoted as one of the most legendary vintages of the 20th century. Intentionally dark in colour, the 1921 vintage of d'Yquem is unforgettable. On the nose, this vintage is pronounced with aromas of peach, crème brûlée and honey.1922 - Château d'Yquem only produce their wines in the best years; if this is not possible then production will cease. Production did occur in 1922, however history does not recognise this as one of the Château's stand out years. Caramel on the nose and palate, with a notable acidic finish.1923 - A moderate vintage that saw a long harvest period between late September through to mid-November. On the nose, there is an abundance of vanilla and chocolate.1924 - Deliciously luscious and rich on the palate, the 1924 vintage offers a plethora of fragrant aromas that exude from the glass upon opening.1925 - Spiced with notable citrus undertones, complemented by pineapple flavour. The 1925 vintage has purity and elegance.1926 - A year that faced limited production due to a lack of botrytis, the 1926 vintage was a small yield that led to the creation of a very good bottle of wine.1928 - A note worthy vintage with colour variation from lemon-gold to rich warm amber. The 1928 vintage offers depth in both aromas and the palate. This is a distinctly sweet and luscious wine.1929 - The 1929 vintage is recognised as one of the best of the late 1920s. This vintage is magnificent in every respect, with aromas of peach, apricot, sultanas and chocolate. Mesmerising by decadent aromas, this is an unforgettable vintage with an exquisite long-lasting finish.1931 - Notable acidity, piquancy and delectably sweet. The 1931 vintage is rich and deliciously mouthwatering.1932 - A notably later harvest than the previous decade, picking started in mid October and continued until late November. The 1932 vintage offers aromas of chocolate, spice and caramel.1933 - On the palate, the 1933 vintage presents all of the desired characteristics of Château d'Yquem; sweet and balanced with distinct acidity. Aromas and flavours of spice, peach and vanilla.1934 - An exceedingly very good year. Full bodied with a fragrant bouquet on the nose, in the glass the wine presents d'Yquem's classic honeyed aromas.1935 - The 1935 vintage is both delicate and elegant. Aromas of violets, sweet on the palate with a noticeably dry finish.1936 - 1936 offers a medium sweet vintage, characterised by aromas of wild cherries and raisins.1938 - Distinctively d'Yquem, the 1938 vintage offers flavours of honey and spice.1939 - Known for being a very good vintage, the 1939 wine offers a dynamic rich bouquet of stoned fruits, vanilla and honey. Rich caramel and raisin characteristics dominate on the palate. This is a well balanced wine with good acidity.1940 - A notable bottle due to it's war time production, the 1940 Château d'Yquem is a very respectable bottle of wine. Key qualities of d'Yquem are present. 18 Bottles (75cl) per lot
