Lot Essay

'Don Quixote has forever been also my favourite book next to the Bible'.

Maja should be happy to live in solitude: 'Life in the city uses one up fearfully, especially if one sits in an exposed position'. As for the pleasures in life: Einstein does not have a permanent string quartet, simply from a shortage of peace and quiet; he reads, however – 'Don Quixote has forever been also my favourite book next to the Bible'; and the weather will soon be good enough for sailing. 'The flowers are just starting, fresh and wonderful; the murky skies give one a yearning for the sun'.

Einstein's bad conscience about writing to his sister holds 'an honoured position' amongst all others: the problem is that his correspondents are so many, and he is alone in dealing with them: 'One exhausts oneself in the battle...'. His stepdaughter Margot very much enjoyed her visit to the Wintelers' 'El Dorado' in Florence. Meanwhile his other stepdaughter, Ilse, has somewhat recovered her health, through a trip to the mountains and ultraviolet treatment
