The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

- pale brown moisture-staining across the upper section of the sheet, extending down to the male subject's face.
- with some brown foxspots, predominantly in the margins.
- with mount- and time staining, recto and verso.
- a rust mark at the upper left corner.
- soft handling creases across the sheet (mainly visible in a raking light).
- two small, circular perforations above the pencil inscription, at the lower right edge of the image.
- hinged with paper tape at the sheet corners verso.
