This canvas has a wax lining and is taut on a keyed stretcher. Broad restorations along the extreme edges are visible in natural light. A number of restored tears are visible in natural light, the most notable of these is a restored horizontal tear, beginning at the center of the left edge and terminating just below the shell badge and measures 19 1/4 inches. Restorations to these tears have discolored slightly with age. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals the aforementioned restorations. The painting can be displayed as is.
