These so-called 'Arab dial' watches, which were made on special commission for governments and notable royals to mark important events or diplomatic milestones, were never made available to the general public through retail channels. Rather, they were made in extremely small quantities and were usually given as gifts to officials, politicians, or close friends.

Gulf royals began to customize these timepieces by adding their signatures, crests, or national symbols. Some of these watches eventually made their way into the secondary and vintage markets after being sold or transferred by their original owners.

Movement: The movement is ticking at the time of cataloguing and all functions are working; however, a service is recommended. Christie’s does not guarantee the future working of the movement.
Dial: Nice and clean. Some indexes with scratches.
Case: Most probably never polished. Strong hallmarks on the side of the lugs. Caseback's original Rolex stickers is faded but intact. Some scratches on the case, bezel and caseback, and minor dents. Marks of case opening.
Buckle: Scratches and dents.
Strap: The watch is sold and delivered with a Christie's branded strap, the original strap is not included in the sale.
