The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The canvas, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. There is tape along the turnover edges. The sheet is fully laid down onto the canvas support. There is some minor lifting to the sheet to the upper right corner. There are minor paint losses along the extreme edges of the sheet. There are drying cracks to the red passages in the upper half of the composition with associated pinpoint paint losses. There are further minor losses to the blue impasto in the upper left quadrant. There are some small spots of craquelure to the yellow impasto in the lower half with associated pinpoint paint loss. There are some further hairline cracks to the white impasto in the lower left quadrant. There is minor fading and some minor abrasions to the lower horizontal extreme edge. There is a tear and some creasing to the lower left corner. When examined under ultraviolet light, there appears to be no evidence of any retouching. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally good condition.
