The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The work is relined and supported on the reverse with a glue lining. The paint layer is stable and under a clear varnish that has slightly yellowed with age. There is a vertical line of discoloration running the length of the work at left of center. There is an overall uneven network of craquelure. Under natural light, some retouching, including to the edges to address frame abrasion and to minimize the appearance of craquelure, is visible. Inspection under ultraviolet light confirms the aforementioned restorations. The work should be hung in its present state. The painting is offered with a carved giltwood frame.
