Santiago Giménez played for co-host Mexico in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he was part of the 26-man roster. El Tri's campaign ended in the Round of 32 after a 3-2 defeat against England at the Estadio Azteca. During that match, Giménez suffered an ankle injury and had to be stretchered off the pitch. Shakira has been an important supporter of Global Citizen since her first performance at the Global Citizen Festival in Hamburg in 2017. Since that performance Shakira has participated in numerous other concerts, including headlining the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park, New York in 2025, and supporting the Global Citizen Rewards program and advocating for expanded access to education worldwide.
