Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The panel consists of two sheet of oak wood, joined horizontally. The left and right edge are bevelled. Some minor bevelling to the lower edge. The panel is straight. The varnish is discoloured and very matt, with surface dirt on top. In natural light no obvious retouchings nor damages can be seen, except for slightly discoloured retouching to the join and a small area of inpaint in the lower left corner, which is detaching from the original paintlayer. The original pigments and impasto appear beautifully preserved. UV light affirms the aforementioned retouching to join and lower left corner, in addition to only very few discrete & tiny scattered retouchings. Otherwise the varnish lights up completely green.
