PATEK PHILIPPE, REF. 5270P-014, A RARE AND ATTRACTIVE PERPETUAL CALENDAR CHRONOGRAPH WRISTWATCH
CASE NUMBER: 6’5**’***, MOVEMENT NUMBER: 7’5**’***
At Watches & Wonders 2022, Patek Philippe introduced a new version of its platinum 5270 reference to replace the popular salmon dial variant. The new platinum model, the Ref. 5270P-014, featured a gorgeous green lacquered dial with a black gradient rim giving it a vignette effect.
There are subtle differences to this new variant - for example, the tachymeter is missing and is a throwback to the first generation 5270s. The dial has a more minimalist design and the font on the sub-dial have a sans serif font that accentuates this minimalism. The hands too are different, faceted now as opposed to the leaf hands and the applied gold hour markers are faceted and have a diamond-shaped tip.
Reference 5270 was introduced to the market at Basel World in April 2011 and replaced the celebrated reference 5970. This was the first perpetual calendar chronograph from Patek Philippe to use a completely on-house made manufacture movement, the calibre 29-535 PS with Patek Philippe's new hallmark of excellence, the PP Seal.
In 2009, Patek Philippe created a new quality benchmark for its mechanical timepieces: the Patek Philippe Seal. This new emblem of horological excellence goes beyond any existing standards of the Swiss watch industry. Uniquely, the Patek Philippe Seal applies to the completely assembled watch as delivered to its owner. In conjunction with these standards, the Seal represents a commitment to lifelong servicing and restoration for all timepieces created by the firm since 1839.
The present timepiece, in very good overall condition, is fresh to market and is being offered from the original owner.
