Santiago Giménez played for co-host Mexico in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he was part of the 26-man roster. El Tri's campaign ended in the Round of 32 after a 3-2 defeat against England at the Estadio Azteca. During that match, Giménez suffered an ankle injury and had to be stretchered off the pitch.
