'(...) te koud om buiten stil te zitten. In plaats daarvan maakte ik een uitvoerige schets van het uitzicht uit het raam van de zitkamen: verre horizon van golvende akkers en een mooie vervallen boerderij met knotwilgen en ander schilderachtig geboomte. Leuk om weer eens naar de natuur te tekenen; lukte beter dan ik dacht' – M.C. Escher
