The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

This painting is executed on canvas that has been reinforced on the reverse with a glue lining. There is cusping along the upper edge. The paint layer is stable, if somewhat dirty, under a clear varnish. There is an uneven craquelure on the surface, along which appear to be some minor areas of restoration, especially in the darkes tones of the hair. Inspection under ultraviolet light was hindered by an uneven varnish. The work presents well and can be hung in its present state. The work is offered in a carved and gilt wood frame.
