The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The canvas, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. There is a fine layer of surface dust. There are some minor linear deformations to the canvas, only visible under strong raking light. There is some minor rubbing and fine tension cracks to the corners and extreme edges, with some associated pinpoint paint losses. There is a minor loss to the canvas with associated fraying to the left horizontal edge. There are some very fine drying cracks in places, most visible to the lighter brown brush strokes in the right half. When examined under ultraviolet light, there appears to be no evidence of any retouching. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally good condition.
