The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The canvas, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. There is some minor fraying to the canvas in the upper right and lower left corners. There is some rubbing and hairline cracks to the extreme edges with associated pinpoint paint losses. There are hairline cracks in places to the composition, most visible in the light background. There is a Sigmoid crack in the black impasto in the lower left quadrant. There are some faint linear abrasions in the area above the lower horizontal edge. When examined under ultraviolet light, there is no evidence of any retouching. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally good condition.
