Lot Essay

Patek Philippe revealed the revolutionary Calatrava reference 6000 in 2008. Stepping away from traditionally styled timepieces from the historic manufacturer, the brand created a sports-casual timepiece within the Calatrava family.

The timepiece has an unusual, yet intriguing dial which features an array of chapter rings to distinguish the minutes, hours, seconds, and date. The date complication has a distinct presence by surrounding the edges of dial and using a red pointer hand for indication. A subsidiary seconds register is boldly placed between 4 and 5 o’clock, bringing a fresh wave of modernity through asymmetry. Reference 6000 is a daring development from the traditional manufacturer and exemplifies an exciting leap into modernity.
