Bai Gengyan, born in Dezhou, Shandong, graduated from Tianjin Fine Art Academy in 1962 and remained in the academy to teach. He was later appointed professor of the Academy. He spent over fifty years teaching and made tremendous accomplishments. Throughout his lifetime, he devoted himself to the research and exploration of Chinese landscape painting and formed his own unique style.
