Lot Essay

An impressive example of the reference 6265 in yellow gold, the present wristwatch has become a true rarity through its overall quality. Extremely well preserved, the timepiece was consigned by an Italian Lady, who received the wristwatch by family descent. Upon first hand inspection of the timepiece, the quality of the case is superb, showcasing strong proportions and highly visible hallmarks. The dial of the wristwatch is of extremely high quality, with hardly any imperfections. An iconic chronograph, this specific iteration of the Daytona in 18K gold with black dial represents a key opportunty for collectors to acquire a highly attractive example of the model.

A cornerstone of a serious Rolex collection, reference 6265 is distinguished by its metal bezel with tachymeter scale, screw down chronograph buttons and caliber 727. The present example is the most lavish iteration of this model, manufactured in 18k yellow gold set against a striking black dial. The bracelet itself is the rare version with riveted links, considered by the Rolex collecting community a collectible on its own. The alternation between the central polished link and outer brushed links adds flair and movement to the ensemble.
