Ordinances and edicts of King Louis XIV, bound in black morocco for the powerful Le Fèvre Caumartin family.The Le Fèvre de Caumartin were a family of the French nobility, originally from Ponthieu, several members of whom held offices or bishoprics under the Ancien Régime. The family dates back to the early 15th century, but book collecting appears to have begun in earnest with Louis-François Le Fèvre, seigneur de Caumartin (1624-1687), whose library passed down primarily to his son Jean-François-Paul Le Fèvre de Caumartin (1668-1733), a bishop who died without issue, and then to the bishop's nephews. Olivier pl. 651, fer no. 1.

Six works in one volume, quarto (236 x 165mm). Occasional spotting and browning. Contemporary French black morocco gilt, all edges gilt, with Caumartin arms on covers (extremities rubbed, small nick to upper front board). Provenance:Caumartin family (probably Jean-François-Paul Le Fèvre de Caumartin, 1668-1733; binding) – Ex Bibliotec.
