Decorated in hiramaki-e and takamaki-eon a black lacquer ground imitiating a Chinese ink cake (tsuikoku) with details of simulated wear and age cracks, depicting a Chinese couple on a boat in a pond of budding lotus and swimming ducks, the lady holding a leaf as a parasol, black lacquer interiors and risers, fundame rims; attached netsuke in the form of a woven bamboo basket, with a silvered-copper fitting chased and engraved simulating a rope, the red lacquer ojime decorated in gold hiramaki-e with maple leaves
