The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Oil on canvas. Not lined. Varnished. Some minor frame abrasions with associated rubbing and very fine craquelures in places along the extreme edges. The stretcher bar barely visible under racking light. A few minute and unobtrusive stable craquelures in places mainly in the thickest lighter pigments. Examined under ultraviolet light: two small areas of retouching to the black horse's mane. One further small area of retouching towards the lower right quadrant. Some further minute lines and spots of cosmetic retouching in places, corresponding to skillfully filled in craquelures. Subject to the foregoing, it is our opinion that the works appears in good condition.
