The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In 'country house' condition the marble with the expected nicks, marks and scratches consistent with age. Larger more noticeable chip to upper right scroll and corner of lower left cornice. Areas of scattered infill throughout as seen with the caved acanthas on the left side. Further red infill to the joins around the upper frame of inner architectural frame. Some slight discoloration to the recessed areas of the carved putto. The altar chambre would benefit from sympathetic restation, the banding to the right door loose, and some further chipping, marks and historic, but apparently inactive, woodworm to both doors. The inner chambre with lose and highly fragile back panel that should be replaced. As stated in the cataloguing the verso has been fitted with later metal brackets to facilitate mounting to a wall. Overall, a fun and interesting piece that retains its beautiful form and vibrancy of material.
