Lot Essay

Ref. CK 2077, Omega’s first water resistant chronograph wristwatch with screw back and round chronograph pushers, was launched in 1937. It was fitted with the iconic cal. 33.3 CHRO, cased in stainless steel and available with a variety of dial designs.

The present example is preserved in very good overall condition, the two-tone silvered dial with outer grey and red tachymetre and telemetre scales.

The masculine case with an impressive 38.2 mm. size shows full proportions, sharp edges to lugs and bezel.

A superb specimen for the aficionado of large sports watches.

Created in 1933 by Lémania, the manually wound chronograph calibre 33.3 CHRO is one of Omega’s most iconic movements. It was initially designed for single button chronographs, however in 1938 a version with two pushers was introduced. Very reliable an precise, the cal. 33.3 CHRO was in production until 1952, used in a variety of case materials and shapes.

Different examples of ref. CK 2077 are illustrated in Omega Watches by John Goldberger, pp. 78-81, and in Omega – A Journey Through Time by Marco Richon, pp. 534 & 535, calibre 33.3 CHRO is described and illustrated on p. 532.
