The present watch is a unique creation honoring the legendary Argentine footballer Diego Maradona. Widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, Maradona rose from humble beginnings in Buenos Aires to global fame, leading Argentina to World Cup victory in 1986 with one of the most famous and controversial goals in football history, the ‘Hand of God,’ referring to Maradona’s great leap to challenge the English goalkeeper.

This watch is particularly important within the diaspora of one of Argentina’s most recognized celebrities. While Maradona has been celebrated across various Hublot models through serial production, it is said that the following watch is one of only a handful specifically commissioned for Maradona himself. Indeed, these pieces, with their robust pink gold and titanium configuration with special case backs and dials were never sold commercially. Anecdotally, Maradona is heavily photographed wearing these piece unique watches during press conferences and interviews. Indeed, Maradona was always known to wear a watch on both wrists, and one can imagine him donning an impressive King Power across his left and right.

Each piece bears a unique portrait rendering of Maradona, finely chased and engraved to the case back. As each depiction to the case back is different, no individual watch from this commission grouping can be considered the same. His iconic number 10 appears in a window at six o’clock, while light blue accents on the dial pay tribute to the Argentina national team, forever linked to Maradona’s historic triumphs on the world stage.
